HealthEast is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our growing Mental Health team. HealthEast is expanding its inpatient mental health units at St. Joseph's Hospital to better serve the community.
Provides specialized medical care to patients in the evaluation and treatment of mental, addictive, and emotional disorders such as schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance- related disorders, sexual and gender disorders and adjustment disorders. Provides care in inpatient hospital setting with a focus on adult psychiatric care and medication management. Provides care and collaborates on treatment plans and decisions for care with a multidisciplinary team of care givers and support staff. Ensures clinical excellence by ensuring quality, focusing on the patient experience, operational and clinical excellence.

Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
A fully integrated electronic medical record (Epic) is utilized
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Gathers and maintains patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals. Examines or conducts laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.
Provides medication management to inpatient population for Mental Health and/or Chemical Dependency.
Prescribes, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
Provides crisis stabilization for patients and families. Consult with Emergency Medicine and other physicians and staff to triage and set up a treatment plan.
Codes and provides timely completion of all charge tickets representing the professional services rendered to patients, the appropriate level of documentation of such services noted in the patients medical record to support such coding, and physicians full compliance with all approved policies and procedures related to such processes. Participates in orientation program designed to provide information regarding coding, billing, and documentation procedures.
Provides psychiatric consultations for patients on medical units. Collaborates with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress. Reviews and evaluates treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals.
Advises and informs guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment. Facilitate physician statements regarding petition commitments for specific patients. Responds to requests for psychiatric documentation related to disability and FMLA.
Prepares and submits case reports and summaries to government and mental health agencies.
Completes admission histories and physicals within 24 hours of admission in Mental Health and/or Chemical Dependency. Counsel outpatients and other patients during office visits. Monitors patients' condition and progress and re-evaluates treatments as necessary. Conducts or arranges for patient rounds on the unit. Provides on call services in accordance with requirements of the Corporation and in accordance with the schedule established by the Site Medical Director or designee.
Complies with medical staff bylaws and rules and regulations of all hospitals, clinics, and other health care providers at or with Physician has or maintains membership or clinical privileges, including the acceptance of medical staff committee assignments and consultation requests. Attends Continuing Medical Education (CME) meetings to provide credit hours adequate to maintain state license and specialty society membership.
Must be BE/BC Psychiatry
Ability to obtain MN license, DEA
Geriatric certification and experience highly preferred
ECT (Electro Convulsive Therapy) certification highly preferred
