Practice Description

HealthEast is currently seeking a part-time (0.8FTE) Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team. This position will be responsible for planning, independently managing, implementing and continually evaluating quality nurse-midwifery care in clinical and hospital settings in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and in the context of careful coordination with CNM, physician and staff colleagues and other HealthEast and community medical and social service professionals. Performs the duties of a CNM practicing the full scope of state of the art midwifery service. Practice includes a combination of clinic shift and call.




  • Reviews health histories and performs physical exams to diagnose accurately female gynecological and obstetrical conditions throughout the normal female life cycle
  • Formulates and implements prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and interconceptional care as defined by HealthEast Certified Nurse-Midwives practice guidelines
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests
  • Prescribes appropriate medication, follow-up tests and exams
  • Completes appropriate medical record documentation
  • Consistently collaborates with colleagues, manages obstetrical emergencies pending physician arrival
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
  • Acts as a professional role model of advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Must be available to work days, eve, nights,weekends and holidays in order to meet patient needs



  • Masters or higher degree in nursing or midwifery required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • One year of experience preferred, but not required
  • Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)
