HealthEast is seeking a part-time (0.4FTE) Psychotherapist 2 in the St. John's Hospital ED. Hours are every other weekend (Fri - Mon), 4:00pm to 12:30am. The Psychotherapist in the Emergency Department setting assesses and treats the behavioral, psychological, social, spiritual and emotional aspects of the patient's needs; establishes with the patient appropriate goals for treatment and disposition to appropriate level of care per DHS/Medicare requirements.

 

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
  • Completes comprehensive crisis psychotherapy and brief diagnostic assessments to diagnose, identify needs and establish initial goals. Completes documentation that includes all required elements as defined by DHS and incorporates information from collateral resources.
  • Emergency Department Psychotherapists: Completes a diagnostic assessments to diagnose, identify needs and establish immediate risk of harm to self, risk to others and appropriate level of care. Incorporates information from available collateral resources when developing plan of care. Completes documentation that includes all required elements as defined by DHS. Makes and communicates care recommendations and determines level of care to patients, physicians, nursing staff and other involved parties. Facilitates completion of the plan of care in consultation and collaboration with emergency department staff.
  • Performs counseling and psychotherapy: Based on the diagnostic assessment develops a comprehensive treatment plan that includes measurable goals and objectives which is updated in subsequent visits to department. Assists clients/families in adjusting to and decreasing symptoms of mental illness following the treatment plan. Completes timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters per DHS and HE compliance requirements. Competes on going consultation with leaders and team psychotherapist, and communicates with patient families to ensure understand of treatment recommendations and anticipated disposition.
  • Emergency Department Psychotherapists: Remains current with resources in the community including reporting protocol for maltreatment reports, domestic violence, sexual, fetal loss, homelessness, medical and financial assistance, medical and dental providers.
  • Assists client/family in utilizing relevant and appropriate community resources.
  • Maintains contact with community agencies to promote the exchange of information facilitate use of these services on behalf of clients.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited unviersity required
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) licensure from the MN Board of Social Work required
  • 1 to 2 years experience in clinical psychotherapy or direct mental health care in a clinical setting in community clinic, hospital group

    practice or independent practice preferred

Working on a multidisciplinary team, our psychotherapists provide strength based mental health therapy in primary care settings. Our team of supportive psychotherapists work with individuals from varied cultures and backgrounds and address most mental health diagnoses. After the completion of a comprehensive evaluation, our psychotherapist provide individual and group therapy following a comprehensive treatment plan.
